The client and I worked together on a design, but then the pool he had wanted wasn’t available! We had to make serious changes but in the end it came out great. The pool was installed by others, but we designed the rest. We also worked with a plumber and electrician to underground the utilities…
This client wanted living space but didn’t have room for much more deck. He also wanted his grill closer to his kitchen. We solved this by expanding his deck with a perfect space for a grill and then building a new patio space. We also planted (more coming in Spring) and added landscape lighting. We…
What a beautiful home on a serene pond. Unfortunately, the balcony wasn’t built well and had rotted out, leading to a dangerous railing situation. We worked with the client to pick a railing system that matched the metal of their windows and used a stained mahogany wood for the deck and drink-rail.
It is always such a pleasure to build with wood. One of the best aspects is the ability to shape, to correct, to combine. Wood comes together beautifully. Although the deck’s size is modest (perfectly fitting the home and backyard), there were some large obstacles to completing this project, even before we started the construction*. There were moments…
Seasons in New Hampshire pose a challenge for outdoor builders like us, but by planning projects well we don’t have to stop construction. For this ipe deck we installed footings in the fall just before the ground froze. With the footings in place and the materials on site, we were able to return a few…
The request was for a new hang-out space… in the front yard! There were some unique challenges to overcome; the space wasn’t square, there is a huge tree nearby, and whatever we built would be right on the property line. We came back with a design for a paver patio, a new stoop, and a…
The challenge here was to integrate an existing deck with a new much larger deck, and accomplish this with a natural and appealing approach to the pool. The new deck needed to be high enough to reach the above ground pool, while integrating the original deck which sat at a lower height. Our design process…
