For this deck recover we used two different colored deck boards. At the stair treads and around the deck border we installed the darker color and in the middle we used a lighter gray. On the railing posts we installed caps with lighting. The post cap lighting offers a diffused illumination for the space. To…
The client and I worked together on a design, but then the pool he had wanted wasn’t available! We had to make serious changes but in the end it came out great. The pool was installed by others, but we designed the rest. We also worked with a plumber and electrician to underground the utilities…
The goal here was simple; build a larger deck and add a dried-in storage space below. The homeowners previous deck was 2/3 this size, which ended up being too small to really do anything on. With a tight budget, we were able to build this deck at 12′ x 12′. We found a decking material…
This client wanted living space but didn’t have room for much more deck. He also wanted his grill closer to his kitchen. We solved this by expanding his deck with a perfect space for a grill and then building a new patio space. We also planted (more coming in Spring) and added landscape lighting. We…
What a beautiful home on a serene pond. Unfortunately, the balcony wasn’t built well and had rotted out, leading to a dangerous railing situation. We worked with the client to pick a railing system that matched the metal of their windows and used a stained mahogany wood for the deck and drink-rail.
Helping people is a part of this business. In this case, this couple had bought this house with plans to age-in-place. However, their stoop had irregular steps, and their front patio was falling apart. Their new stoop has regular steps and the patio is smooth and usable! More photos:

One thing we do with wood often is introduce patterns. Sometimes its numbers, shapes, sizes… but repeating the pattern really helps bring it all together.
This client was after a modern look and so we suggested black posts to compliment his black awning, with cable rail between. We built a new stoop with two staircases (previous was one sided) and installed the beautiful cable rail system.
This project has a classic look combined with drink rails and sleek lighting. The design of this deck was very efficient. At 12′ x 24′ it is a decent size, but also used materials very efficiently. Our waste on this job was measured in inches.
We started with an existing deck of ample size. We had some changes in mind but they didn’t fit the budget, so we kept the existing structure. Thankfully the foundations were good, and the structure was to code except for a few joists that were spanning a bit too far. We fixed that (as well…
This project came out great! We started with an old deck that had some issues. It had been expanded at one time and built-out around a hot tub. Our task was to design a new deck using most of the old structure. We made a ton of repairs and upgrades and in the end, we…
